Because the housing here rewards knowing it. A great deal of this city is early twentieth-century construction on raised foundations, with deep open eaves, exposed rafter tails and a hundred years of alterations layered over the original building. There is a subfloor void as well as a roof void and on many houses the two are connected. The mature street-tree canopy means an animal can move across a neighbourhood without ever touching the ground, and the arroyo and the foothills supply population from both edges.

Sealing in metal rather than foam. Clearing out the contamination afterwards, because it does not leave with the animals. A follow-up visit to confirm the work has held.
Interior work is mechanical. We do not put rodenticide inside a building, and outdoors we use it sparingly, in secured housings, on properties where arrival is genuinely continuous.
That a job is smaller than you feared, when it is. That an ongoing plan is not worth buying for your property, when it is not. That something we have found is an electrician's or a carpenter's job rather than ours, when it is. And that the pressure is coming from a neighbouring property or from protected ground at your fence line, when that is the honest answer.
None of that is difficult to say out loud. A rodent problem is easy to make sound worse than it is, and the money follows the description, so we would rather be the firm that talked you out of something.
