Residential Rodent Control in Pasadena

Nearly all of our work is houses, and on a Pasadena house the job comes down to three questions: which animal it is, how it is getting in, and what on the property is keeping it interested. Everything else follows from the answers.

The Construction Decides Where We Look

This city has two quite different housing types living side by side, and they fail in different places.

Raised foundations, which is most of the older stock

A house is one system, so Rodent Control Pasadena covers the roof line, the void, the subfloor and the garage in a single visit rather than quoting each of them separately.

A subfloor void beneath the boards, ventilated by screens set into the foundation wall, frequently the original ones. Those screens are the commonest entry we find on this housing, and often the only one. The void connects upward into wall cavities and on many houses into the roof space, which is why noise seems to travel around a building.

Slab construction, on the post-war streets

No subfloor to work. The routes are the garage door line, the utility penetrations at the slab edge, and the point where a low-pitched roof meets the wall. It is a shorter list and a faster inspection.

We do not assume which we are dealing with before looking, because the same street quite often has both.

The Eave Line

On the older housing this is where the work usually is. A deep Craftsman overhang has gaps between the rafter tails where blocking was never fitted or has since gone, a soffit join that has opened as the building moved, and vents whose screens have had eighty years to corrode.

Reaching all of that means a ladder on every elevation rather than the one nearest whichever room the noise is in, which is why houses treated repeatedly by other contractors so often still have the problem. It is slow, unglamorous work at two and a half metres and it is what decides the outcome.

What Keeps a House Interesting

Most of it is within a few metres of the walls and most of it is fixable. Branches touching or overhanging the roof. Ivy climbing an elevation. Fruit left where it falls. Woodpiles stacked against the building. Bins without lids, open compost, bird feeders. Irrigation still running through a dry autumn when nothing else nearby has water.

We go through all of it plainly, including the parts that belong to a neighbour rather than to you.

How a Residential Job Runs

Inspection, documented and photographed. Trapping on the runs the animals are using, serviced on a schedule. Sealing once the catch rate has gone to nothing, in galvanised or stainless mesh and metal flashing. Clearing the contamination, because scent marking on a runway outlasts the animals and advertises the address. Then a return visit to confirm the exclusion has held.

Trapping always precedes sealing. Closing a house with animals still inside leaves them dying in a wall cavity or under a floor, and that is a considerably worse problem than the one you rang about.

When an Ongoing Plan Is Worth It

On an interior lot with one obvious opening, it is not, and we will say so. On a property along the arroyo, at the foothill margin, or backing parkland or open ground, arrival is continuous rather than occasional and a reviewed schedule is genuinely the sensible arrangement. Which of those you are is usually obvious from the back fence.
